Inspirational Gold Coast fullback Preston Campbell has been ruled out of the Titan’s preliminary finals clash with the New Zealand Warriors due to a hamstring injury.

Campbell, 33, had hoped to play in the clash after being sidelined sidelined for the previous three weeks, but was unable to complete the Titans’ final team run ahead of the match on Saturday.

Jetstar Titans coach John Cartwright said the loss of Campbell for such an important game was a big blow for the team however the side has proven that they can win without him in the past.

“He’s a very important part of the side for a lot of reasons, not for just what he does on the field, you know he’s a leader,” Cartwright said.

“We have done it without him a few times this year; we’ve been without Princey at stages, Rat at stages so you know they’ve built a good platform there to be able to cover for him.”

Campbell will be replaced by William Zillman with Jordan Atkins coming in on the wing.

Cartwright can rest assured that Luke Bailey will take his place in the side on Saturday after missing the Titans’ final round clash with Wests Tigers with a broken thumb.
