Whitehaven say RFL made correct decision to cancel Championship season

Whitehaven say they are disappointed the 2020 Championship season has been cancelled – but the RFL made the correct decision in doing so.

The RFL has made the decision to cancel the Championship and League 1 seasons in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A Whitehaven statement read: “While we are disappointed that our 2020 Championship season has been cancelled, the board believe that the RFL have made the correct decision to safeguard player welfare and the solvency of its member clubs.

“WRLFC will now press on with our exciting plans for the 2021 season and beyond.

“We will engage with all season ticket holders and commercial partners in due course.”
