Lewis a Panther until 2014

Penrith player of the year Luke Lewis has signed a long term deal to keep him with the Panthers until 2014.

Lewis, 27, who won a premiership with the club in 2003, has won four caps for Australia and is a key part of the Panthers’ plans.

He is possibly one of the NRL‘s most versatile players having started his career on the wing but has also appeared at five-eighth and even halfback.

This year he was named Dally M lock of the year.

Penrith CEO Mick Leary said he was delighted that the club had been able to retain Lewis.

“I’m excited that we have been able to keep the nucleus of our team together for the next 3 years,” Leary said today.

“Luke is a competitive player who has achieved a lot since debuting for the club in 2001. His representative career for both NSW and Australia continues to show the quality of our junior nursery at Penrith and he is someone who plays an enormous part of our success as a club.”
