Seibold excited to be with Wales
South Wales Scorpions’ award winning head coach Anthony Seibold is looking forward to working with the Welsh national side this autumn as they go into their most important international campaign in ten years.
Wales take on Italy this Sunday in Wrexham (kick-off 2pm) in a friendly to prepare for their Alitalia European Cup campaign where the winners will qualify for the 2011 Four Nations tournament to take on England, Australia and New Zealand.
The big game in South Wales is on Sunday 17th October when Wales host Ireland at The Gnoll in Neath (kick-off 2pm) – game two of the three match series that also involves trips to Scotland and France.
“I am really excited and pleased to be asked by Iestyn Harris to once again be involved with Wales at full international level,” said Seibold, who missed last year’s tournament due to family commitments.
“It is another opportunity for me to work with elite players where the prize at the end of the competition is a lucrative spot in the 2011 Four Nations series. I am looking forward to working with Iestyn and the players.”
The Scorpions have secured the services of star players Christiaan Roets and Neil Dallimore for another year.
Roets, aged 30, who will join the Wales camp on Friday, was signed from Bridgend Blue Bulls in January after impressing in last year’s internationals. He was one of the outstanding performers from last season where the Scorpions secured a play-off spot, being named in the division’s Team of the Month twice.
Dallimore, aged 29, has completed his first season at the Scorpions as another success. He had never played rugby league in his life before February this year and he ended up as one of the division’s highest performers and was in the official Team of the Month for May.
“We are pleased to re-sign both Chris and Neil for 2011,” Seibold said. “They were two of our most committed players in 2010 and were among the star performers in many of our games.”
