New acting CEO for Fev

Championship minor premiers Featherstone have appointed Stuart Sheard as their acting Chief Executive for a second spell at the club.

Sheard replaces Andy Prout, who announced his departure recently after a successful three years in charge, and returns to the club following spells at Crusaders and Huddersfield.

He said: “I had no intention of working in Rugby League again, but when Rovers’ Chair Mark Campbell contacted me about taking up the role I didn’t hesitate.

“Rovers have made a massive amount of progress over the last couple of seasons. On the field they have things in place that many Super League clubs would be envious of. They have innovative and meaningful community programmes in place: initiatives that the outside world needs to know more about, they have serious ambitions and the ability to realize them. There are some good people here, and the potential is enormous. Rovers have it in them to be a big club.

“Andy Prout did a fine job, and I’m just picking up the reins from him. That had to happen straight away, and this explains why Rovers had to act quickly rather than spend time searching for a new CEO. The void had to be filled immediately. They know me and I know them, so the logic is obvious. This is an exciting, progressive club and it’s great to be part of it again.”
