Wakefield sign Motu Tony

Wakefield have signed former Hull and New Zealand utility player Motu Tony.

The 29 year old former New Zealand Warriors player has joined The Wildcats after a brief spell at Cumbrian side Whitehaven and brings Super League experience with him, after playing for the Castleford as well as making more than 100 appearances for Hull.

John Kear, Wildcats Head Coach and Director of Rugby commented: “We are thrilled to have secured the signature of Motu Tony.”

“I have worked with Motu at Hull FC and am delighted that I have the chance to do so again, here at The Wildcats. He is a great addition to the team.”

“His versatility on the field and International experience will add great depth to our squad and I really look forward to him playing here.”

The Samoan fullback has represented the Kiwi’s 18 times and was part of the side that won The Gillette Tri-Nations in 2005. He has played in Grand Final’s in both Australia and England and was a Challenge Cup winner in 2005.

Motu Tony expressed his excitement about joining the club, “I am very grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given to prove myself again.”
