Scorpions trials set for Sunday
South Wales Scorpions are having another attempt to stage their open player trials this Sunday at Porthcawl RFC.
Players are to report at 1pm to register for the trials that begin at 2pm.
The trials were orginially due to take place last Sunday but were postponed due to a frozen pitch.
However with the weather set to get a bit warmer by the weekend and with snow starting to melt on the fields in the Bridgend and Porthcawl area, the club believes that they can give it a go this Sunday.
Supporters are welcome to attend and watch the future stars of Wales Rugby League try out for a professional contract.
The Scorpions has received over 40 applications from players who come from the length of South Wales, some with previous Rugby League experience and some who have only played rugby union.
They are hopeful of picking up the next big star like last year when they unearthed players like Steve Parry who was the League’s third highest try scorer with 19 tries, Jamie Murphy, who has since signed for Crusaders and 28-year old Neil Dallimore who had never played Rugby League before but ended up being one of the most consistent performers.
