Morrison itching to return

Featherstone forward Iain Morrison is close to returning from a knee operation, but admits it has been a frustrating period for him.

Morrison, 27, moved to Post Office Road from Widnes for the 2010 season but missed out on the run in after picking up the injury mid-season.

The Scotland international said: “It was tearing me up. I helped out at the club during the closing stages of the season, but I wanted to work on my rehab by myself. It would have been painful for me to be doing my rehabilitation work and not be part of the team.

“I took a break from my commitments to Rovers’ community work as well. I wasn’t in a sulk or anything. I needed to concentrate. I also needed to take stock of the whole of my career.”

“This season can’t come soon enough. With my absence, and the recruitment of new players, I feel a bit like I’ve just arrived at the club. It hit me when I started doing light training; ball work and so on.

“I’m going to have to re-establish myself against some very strong opposition.”

Morrison played for Scotland at the 2008 World Cup and has previously played for Hull KR, Whitehaven, Huddersfield and London Broncos.
