Halifax boosted by new deal for Nash

Dylan Nash has ended speculation about his future by agreeing to remain at Halifax for the 2011 season.

The popular Australian had been strongly linked with a move to York City Knights but has now decided to extend his stay with the Co-operative Championship Grand Final winners.

Signed from Gateshead at the end of the 2009 season, Nash can play in the centre or second row and head coach Matt Calland is delighted that he has chosen to remain at the Shay.

“Dylan is a really strong centre and he offers us some great options out wide. He has a great pair of hands and reads the game well. He went well for us last year but hopefully he can go even better this season,” Calland told the club’s website.

Nash becomes the third player in a matter of days to commit to Halifax after Bob Beswick and Mike Ratu penned deals with the club.

“We are getting there now. We have managed to keep hold of the majority of last seasons squad and that was always going to be key. We have lost a few, but replaced them with some great players,” said Calland.

“So far everything is looking good and it will be interesting to see how everyone goes on in the next few weeks.”

The 24-year-old spent the winter in Australia but is due to return to England tomorrow.
