Sale join Eastmond race

Avivia Premiership outfit Sale are the latest rugby union club to show an interest in signing St Helens star Kyle Eastmond.

The 21-year-old half back has been strongly linked with a cross-code move to Bath in recent weeks after the west country side confirmed they had met with the player and his representatives.

However, Sale head coach Pete Anglesea admits that he is interested in bringing Eastmond to Edgeley Park.

Kyle Eastmond‘s name had been floating around. He’s an option we would look at, though there’s a strong rumour he’s going to Bath,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“Kyle’s an awesome player and has been fantastic for St Helens and we would be foolish not to have a look at him and see whether he fits into our mould.”

Sale are thought to have held talks with Eastmond in 2009 before the player opted to remain in rugby league by signing a two-year contract extension with Saints.

He has often been compared to Jason Robinson, the former Wigan and Great Britain winger who enjoyed a hugely successful spell with Sale after switching codes in 2000.
