Barrow prop banned for six matches

Barrow prop Brett McDermott will miss the start of the Championship season after being handed a six match ban.

McDermott was found guilty of stamping and punching in the Raiders’ Northern Rail Cup defeat of York on February 6 by the RFL Disciplinary committee.

McDermott was banned for four matches for stamping on the leg of York forward Ben Jones in the 70th minute and suspended for a further two games for punching winger Danny Wilson in the 37th minute.

McDermott, who pleaded guilty to both charges, was also fined £50 when he appeared before the RFL Disciplinary Committee last night.
