Potter expecting the unexpected

Bradford coach Mick Potter is prepared for the unexpected when his side take on Crusaders this weekend.

The Welsh side were impressive in their opening day thrashing of Salford, and despite defeat at Harlequins last week, midfield trio Jarrod Sammut, Michael Witt and Clinton Schifcofske all caught the eye.

Potter, still looking for his first win as Bulls coach, said: “[We expect] a little bit of flamboyance but they have got some good tough forwards and Sammut and Witt are always looking to do something different, you know like kick on play two or play three. We have just got to take them on and expect the unexpected but it should be a very entertaining game.

“Sammut is important for them but Schifcofske is probably their big indicator.  Most of the set plays go through Witt but he is always tracking about there looking to set the next play up or go himself.

“They’ve got some good players there, professionals who know what their job is. If they’re forwards they know how to get metres and they know how to find space and get quick play-the-balls. Then they have that factor of Schifcofske, Sammut and Witt pushing the ball around the park, floating around and coming up with that unorthodox play. It’s hard to stop because no-one knows it’s going to happen. I don’t think the players sometimes know what they’re doing until the split-second it happens.”

Following their opening day agony against Leeds at the Magic Weekend, the Bulls were beaten 44-10 at home by Wigan last time out.
