Crusaders tie-up deal for Tansey

Jordan Tansey has completed a rapid return to Super League by signing an 18-month deal with Crusaders.

The 24-year-old arrives from Championship club Dewsbury Rams, whom he joined in February after his contract with Hull FC was terminated for disciplinary reasons.

Crusaders head coach Iestyn Harris said he was thrilled to sign a player of Tansey’s quality.

“He has played at the highest level in both Super League and the NRL and I believe we have signed a top quality player,” he said.

“Jordan is a very versatile player, he can play pretty much anywhere across the back line, as well as hooker and he adds real class to this squad. He’s a very skillful player that will give our attacking game that extra bit of potency.

“He’s still a young guy and I’ve spoken with him about what he wants to achieve here at Crusaders. He wants to get back to playing at the highest level and showing everyone what a great player he can be.”

Tansey has also played for Leeds Rhinos and NRL club Sydney Roosters.

He featured 24 times for Hull last season but was dropped on two occasions for breaching club discipline.

His contract at the KC Stadium was terminated after a further breach of the club’s code of conduct earlier this year that saw him left out of the squad for the pre-season friendly with Castleford.

Tansey is expected to go straight into Crusaders squad for the match with Castleford on Sunday.
