Barrow trio doubtful for York clash
Barrow Raiders‘ winger James Nixon is ruled out with a broken leg, while Gary Broadbent and Richard Fletcher are both expected to miss Sunday’s Co-operative Championship fixture due to knee problems.
But Barrow coach Nigel Wright is boosted by the news that the club’s three dual-registration players should all be available, with Wigan pair Ben Davies and Jack Hughes set to return the team along with Huddersfield’s Adam Walker.
York have their own injury problems, as Ben Jones (broken sternum) and Matt Barron (broken foot) are definitely ruled out of contention.
Tom Bush faces a fitness test on Thursday night after a leg concern kept him out of training on Tuesday.
York City Knights coach Dave Woods said: “Barrow have been hot and cold this year.
“We’ve just got to go out there, try to put some pressure on them and make them come up with some errors.
“Hopefully we can do that and they’ll start to panic, but we know we’ll have to be on our game because they’ve got some very good players up there.”
York are currently eighth in the Co-operative Championship, with two wins from their seven league games in 2011.
Woods added: “We’re doing OK. From the start of the year, we’re probably where we’d have thought we might be. You only need a couple of wins and you can be right in the mix.”
