Swinton face Whitehaven test
Spencer Miller (shoulder) faces a late fitness test before Whitehaven coach David Seeds finalises his squad for Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One game with Swinton Lions.
Craig Benson (quad) faces a month on the sidelines, but Luke Issaka will definitely feature after returning to full fitness from his own recent shoulder problem.
Seeds said: “Swinton are flying. They’ve beaten Dewsbury, got a tie against Warrington in the next round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup, and the whole club will be on a high.
“We’ll be in for our biggest test of the season, but in fairness so will they. It should be an interesting game.”
Lions coach Steve McCormack will pick a squad without Sam Reay, who faces six weeks out of action after needing emergency surgery to remove his appendix.
McCormack said: “We had a great week last week, but our focus is right back on Whitehaven and our bread and butter.
“Dewsbury were very physical last week, and we’ve got quite a few bumps and bruises. We’re aware that Whitehaven have had a week off, so the big challenge for us this week is making sure our lads are fresh and that our preparation is spot on.”
