Preparation key for Sheens

Tim Sheens says preparation will be to the key to a Wests Tigers victory against resurgent Penrith tomorrow night.

The Tigers will be keen to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 29-18 defeat to South Sydney, but will meet a Panthers team on a high after their 33-10 win over Brisbane.

Sheens welcomes back prop Bryce Gibbs from an ankle injury for the clash but admits the performance against the Rabbitohs was under par.

He said: “The main focus has been getting us ready and getting our game sorted. We didn’t have the energy in defence nor the willingness in the first 40 minutes (against Souths) and in our offence, we were all over the place.”

“We’ve focused really hard on our preparation this week. We won’t have any trouble turning up tomorrow night. You still have to win the game though and you just can’t afford to be up and down the way we are at the moment.

“We were up and down in the one game, let alone week to week. Prior to that, we had a good win.

“We still have to get out there and follow the game plan and play well but you certainly have to turn up with the energy which manifests itself in your defence and particularly your kick chase and the tough things in the game. That’s where I am confident we will be solid.”

Meanwhile, the Tigers have received good news with props Arron Woods and Andrew Fifita both opting to extend their deals with the club.

Woods has signed a deal until 2014 while Fifita, who is tipped as one of the NRL‘s brightest young stars, has taken up an option to stay for the 2012 season.
