Grix fine after concussion blow
Huddersfield full-back Scott Grix has assured fans that he is making a speedy recovery from the heavy concussion that forced him off in the match against Hull on Sunday.
Grix, 27, was carried off on a stretcher with a precautionary neck brace after a collision with Hull centre Kirk Yeaman.
The former Wakefield and Widnes man said: “I’m not feeling too bad now! I was feeling pretty rough immediately after the game on Sunday and a bit on Monday morning. My body feels a bit like it’s been in a car crash but it’s one of those things and you just have to get on with it and hopefully get myself right for this week.
“I don’t remember anything about the incident at the time, I have a vague memory of being on the stretcher on the field but it was only very brief and felt like about twenty seconds rather than the length of time I was actually getting treated on the field. I’ve watched the incident back and I can see why my family were panicking about things a little bit. People have been texting me asking how I was and supporters sending messages into the club which is appreciated but it’s just one of those things and thankfully I’m relatively ok.
“It wasn’t a malicious tackle from Kirk (Yeaman) I don’t think. It’s his job to come in there and hit me hard, that’s what he did and it was just unfortunate that it caused me a concussion. If I didn’t dip as low as I did he may not have caught me on the chin and it wouldn’t have mattered. Robbo (Luke Robinson) gets knocked out three times a game practically so I can’t whinge about it happening once!”
Grix, who joined the club at the beginning of 2010, has recently signed a new deal with the Giants. He has previously played for Doncaster, Halifax, Leigh, Widnes and Wakefield.
