Cockayne set for home debut
Ben Cockayne is set for his home debut for Featherstone after making an encouraging start to his Rovers career in last week’s 24-18 win at Batley.
The former Hull KR ace will be centre of attention when the Sky cameras descend on the Bigfellas Stadium for Thursday’s Co-operative Championship thriller.
Coach Daryl Powell said: “Ben was strong and carried the ball well (last week). He’ll be better for the run.”
Defeat for Sheffield this week, combined with wins for Halifax and Barrow, would see their play-off place come under threat.
Eagles coach Mark Aston is assessing his options after Simon Brown and Joe Hirst (hamstring) both suffered knocks against Leigh, while Quentin Laulu-Togagae is battling to recover from his own hamstring problem.
Youngsters Eddie Battye, Connor Scott and Corey Hanson are all believed to be being considered for selection.
Aston said: “We are busted up and it’s a quick turnaround, but we’ll get a squad together.”
