Oldham v Workington Preview

Tony Benson hailed his team’s recent performances as they look forward to tangling with Workington Town.

Benson said: “We’re getting a bit of consistency now. We’ve played pretty well for the last five weeks, and the best thing is that all our players aren’t back from injury yet. The young fellas are finding their straps, which is excellent.”

On Workington, Benson said: “We’d certainly rather play them at home than away. We’ve been getting great vocal support, and the players certainly respond to that.

“However, Workington are very strong across the park. They look as though they’re the team to beat in my eyes. They’ll be there or thereabouts at the end of the year.”

Workington Town‘s joint coach Gary Charlton revealed Workington could be forced into the transfer market after Ryan McDonald broken a bone in his hand against London.

Charlton said: “We’ve got four big games coming up against some top teams, and we’ll probably have to bring in one or two players because of our injuries.

“If we get another injury this weekend then we’ll definitely have to do something.”

He added: “Oldham have put some good results in during the last few weeks. They’ll be hard to beat, especially at their place.”
