We’ve had a scan through the weekend’s papers.

Super League clubs eye Kelly

There is a possibility that Albert Kelly could stay in the UK next season, reports League Express.

The Hull FC half-back earlier this year said that 2020 would be his last year in the UK but Leigh are interested in his services as well as at least two Super League clubs, according to League Express.

Leeds’ iron man

Leeds’ ‘iron man’ James Donaldson makes his mark after back injury lay-off by making 46 tackles in their win over Huddersfield, reports The Yorkshire Post.

Donaldson told The Yorkshire Post: “It was awesome to be back. I knew I had to bring something to the team. There were a lot of boys missing and I got more minutes than usual which I was happy about.”

Hull KR up for the Cup

Tony Smith has challenged Hull KR to find another level for their Challenge Cup quarter-final against Leeds on Friday, reports Hull Live.

Smith told Hull Live: “We’ve got a really big game next week and we’re going to do our best to train hard this week to put in another solid performance. Hopefully even better.”

Championship duo sign new deals

Scotland forward Ben Kavanagh and Wales international Sion Jones have both signed new contracts with Halifax, reports Halifax Courier.

Kavanagh has signed a deal with Fax for 2021 while Jones has penned a two-year deal with the club, according to Halifax Courier.

Gale praises Leeds spirit

Leeds star Luke Gale has explained why the hardest Super League wins for the Rhinos always bring more satisfaction after their 13-12 victory over Huddersfield, reports Yorkshire Evening Post.

Gale told Yorkshire Evening Post: “It’s great when you win by 40 or 50 points, but the ones where you know you are up against it and you face a bit of adversity and tough it out – maybe without playing particularly well – always feel a bit better.”

Broadcasting rights

The broadcast rights for rugby league coverage went out to tender last week, reports League Express.

Two different broadcast packages were sent out for consideration – one for Super League rights and the other for a variety of competitions, including the Challenge Cup, Championship, League 1 and internationals, according to League Express.
