Scotland 26-6 Ireland

A brace of tries from David Scott helped Scotland to a 26-6 win over Ireland in the Hull FC youngster’s Glasgow hometown.

Scott, who also scored two goals, was one of ten debutants by coach Steve McCormack named in the youngest ever Scottish side.

Ireland’s only response came through Liam Finn, who touched down and converted for the visitors, who also had a number of new faces in their line-up.

“I’m delighted with the victory and the performance,” said McCormack. “The blend of debutants and younger players with our senior players was excellent.

“David Scott will get the headlines and rightly so with that performance – he has enormous potential. It’s testament to the work put in with the development team and player pathway we have created.”

Paddy Coupar, Josh Barlow and Alex Hurst also touched down for Scotland, while Hurst added a third goal for the home side.

Scotland’s next fixture in the triangular RLEF series comes against France in two weeks’ time; Ireland, who will also play France, next week take on Wales in an international friendly at The Gnoll.
