Higgins makes Sheffield return against former club
Prop Liam Higgins will return to Sheffield colours on Friday when they take on his former club Wakefield in a pre-season friendly.
Higgins, 28, has returned to Bramall Lane after he was released by the Wildcats in the close season.
The former Hull and Castleford front-rower started last season at the Eagles, but stepped up to Super League midway through the year, making 16 appearances for Wakefield.
He told the club’s official website: “It’s been a bit of whirlwind but Mark came in and I’m happy to be back at Sheffield. I’d signed a contract at Wakefield but the new coach came in and I wasn’t part of his plans.
“Sheffield is one of only two or three Championship clubs I would have joined. It’s a strong squad and I’m looking forward to the season.”
Another man making a return to Sheffield colours on Friday may be half-back Dominic Brambani.
Bradford-born Brambani, 26, has spent the past two seasons with Dewsbury following a spell in Australia.
He said: “It’ll be great getting on the pitch in a game. Wakefield will be a tough test but we’ve got a good squad.
“I’m really looking forward to the season it’s like I’ve never been away. There are a few familiar faces here and it’s good to be back.”
