Rodney pleased with Broncos pre-season
New London Broncos signing Shane Rodney says their pre-season training camp in Brecon has been a great experience.
Rodney, 28, is one of a number of new faces at Twickenham Stoop having signed from Manly over the close season, leaving the Sea Eagles with a Grand Final winners ring.
The Broncos squad were put through their paces by the Royal Navy in a variety of activities including rock climbing, caving and circuit training.
Rodney told the club’s official website: “It’s been great – fairly exhausting but it’s been a great way to get to know the boys.
“I’ve done similar things to this before, not to this extreme though! It’s been great doing this team building and getting the guys working together. It’s what you’re going to go through in a game so it’s been good.
“I was terrified before I went into the caves but it was a real good experience. It’s great for the team; this is the kind of commitment from each other that we are going to need on the pitch next season.”
Rodney, who has also played for Penrith Panthers in the NRL, is one of no fewer than 11 new faces that Rob Powell has brought in to his squad for the 2012 season.
Among them is former Panthers team-mate Craig Gower, who has returned to rugby league following a spell in union, as well as ex-Crusaders pair Michael Witt and Mark Bryant.
Another member of the triumphant Manly 2011 side, Michael Roberton, has also followed Rodney to London, while Antonio Kaufusi has also made the move from Down Under having previously played for Newcastle Knights.
