Potter aware of Wakefield danger

Mick Potter has pinpointed Tim Smith as the dangerman as he prepares his Bradford team for a trip to Wakefield on Saturday.

The Bulls travel to Belle Vue on the back of a disappointing 54-16 home defeat against Wigan, having picked up their first win of the season the previous week at Castleford.

Wakefield enjoyed a weekend off due to Leeds’ involvement in the World Club Challenge, having won one and lost one of their first two games.

Potter told the club’s official website: “They really try to impose themselves on the other team. Their forward pack looks to get on top and watching footage of them they have some good line speed and some good intimidation about them.

Tim Smith gets the side round the park well. He has a good kicking game and he come up with the right plays for them.   They should be fresh after having last week off and it has the makings of a good game.”

New-look Wakefield, now coached by Richard Agar, will play in front of the SKY Sports TV cameras for the second time in three Super League games, and they will be looking for a repeat of their round one victory over Widnes.

Former St Helens and Catalan coach Potter says he has noticed changes for the better in the Wildcats set-up since the arrival of Agar.

He added: “They are playing with a lot of width and moving the ball around and they are making it tough for opposition. They are coming up with inside plays from the outside and they are working the short side very well. We need to be fully aware of what’s going on with each individual player in every play they have.

“I don’t think we need to worry too much about the result because if we get the performance then the result will look after itself.”
