Harrison Hansen wants to play until he’s 40
Harrison Hansen has said he wants to play until he’s 40-years-old if he can.
The current Toulouse forward was our latest guest to break down his rugby league career so far, and spoke about how lockdown has helped give him a few more years in rugby league.
Hansen began his career at Wigan, winning the double in 2013 before a move to Salford, following in the footsteps of his father.
His journey has also seen him at Leigh and Widnes, before the move to the South of France, alongside team-mate Jy Hitchcox.
He said: “Look, I’m 35 but there’s no way I’m retiring yet.
“I’ve still got plenty left in the tank. It’s funny because I see a lot of players that I’ve played with who are my age who I came through the academy and stuff and they’re my age and they’re retired or are retiring now and I’m thinking to myself ‘Should I be retiring?’ but I’m like nah.
“This lockdown has sorted my body out really. It’s probably given me two or three more years so, I might be playing until I’m 40 hopefully if I can.
“I’m feeling great, my body is in good nick. I’ll stay in France, and Toulouse as long as I can and if it’s not Toulouse I’ll definitely stay in France whether it’s the French league or whatever, I don’t know. But I’m really enjoying it here and and I’m not looking to retire or go back to the UK anytime soon.”
