Heighington humbled by Tigers milestone
Chris Heighington says equalling John Skandalis‘ record for the most Wests Tigers appearances will be a “great honour’’.
Back rower Heighington is set to reach the 185-game milestone on Monday night when the Tigers face Canberra at Campbelltown.
Heighington made his club debut in 2003 and is a member of the squad that won the NRL premiership in 2005.
“I’ve been at the club for ten years now and reaching 185 games is a great honour,” Heighington said.
“It means everything to me. To play at one club with all my good mates is one thing you dream of as a kid and now it is all coming true.
“I’ve had a real good ten years. I just take each week as it comes as you just don’t know when injuries will hit.”
Head Coach Tim Sheen said Heighington has been a great club player.
“He started from the bottom and worked his way through. Chris established himself as not only a good player at this Club but in the game generally as he has a lot respect,’’ Sheens said.
“Chris is one of those Club players every organisations needs. He is not only good on the field but he is very good around the Club as well.”
