Anasta issues rallying call

Sydney Roosters captain Braith Anasta wants his players to rally together following their heavy defeat to Melbourne on Sunday.

The Roosters conceded a total of eight tries against the Storm in a 44-4 pummelling at AAMI Park.

Despite having a decent share of possession, the Tricolours found themselves outgunned against a rampant home side, for whom full-back Billy Slater scored two tries.

“To put it simply, they were just too good for us, there’s no doubt about it. You can try and deflect it or palm it off but at the end of the day they outclassed us in the second half,” Anasta said.

“We need to rally together now and show some fight, we need to work for each other for the full eighty minutes.”

The Storm scored four tries during a rampant 25-minute period after the interval, giving the home side a runaway lead.

“We had the bulk of the ball and territory at that time and couldn’t convert it into points, it’s something we really need to work on,” said Anasta.

“We had our chances to score points and gain some momentum in the first half and didn’t take them. That sort of thing can take its toll on you, and I think it did today.

“When you play a team like Melbourne to have to convert your chances and we didn’t today – it’s demoralising.”

Anasta’s men will have opportunity to put things right when they face the New Zealand Warriors at home on Saturday.
