Potter blames Bulls for poor start

Mick Potter blasted his side after their poor start cost the Bulls a valuable win against Salford.

Bradford lost 38-18 at home to the City Reds, and Potter blamed his side for not keeping up with the tempo of the game in the opening half.

He said: “We started off slowly and they started off good, and we didn’t get better until after the second half.

“They are a solid team and you can’t afford to be a little bit down on your game like we were. They capitalised on it and we just made too many errors as the game went on.

“I think we got better as the game went on but the game had slipped past us.”

The Bulls’ opening half was summarised with a 30-6 deficit at half time, which Bradford failed to recover from. However Potter was pleased to see an improved response from his side in the second half, as his side won the half 12-6.

He said: “If you let the game slip too early it doesn’t matter if you improve in the second half, but I would expect that sort of response when you start slowly. 

“It’s an 80 minute game and Salford deserved the win, they came up with the right plays and started with the right tempo. We didn’t.”
