Lewis Brown will leave the New Zealand Warriors at the end of the current season after signing a deal to join Penrith.

The 25-year-old utility’s contract is up at the end of the year and despite efforts from the Warriors management to retain him, Brown has decided on a change.

“It will be tough leaving,” said Brown.

“The Vodafone Warriors gave me my break to play in the NRL and also the chance to represent the Kiwis.”

“I love the club but I had to look after my career and I thought the best option for my future was to accept the contract at Penrith.

“My heart’s still at the Vodafone Warriors. We’re only just into the 2012 season and they’ll have my full commitment for the rest of the year.

“I want to thank the club for the opportunity they’ve given me over the last four years.”

Brown, a five-times capped Kiwi international, made his Warriors debut in 2009 and has made 64 appearances for the club, scoring 15 tries.

He can play in the back row, centre or hooker.
