Anglo-French fixtures confirmed
The line-up for the Anglo-French tournament involving four Championship teams has been confirmed.
Last season’s Championship winners Featherstone will go up against Pia on Sunday 3rd June, with the winner claiming the title of European champion, in a game that will be televised live on Premier Sports.
The channel will also show a game on Saturday 2nd June, when Leigh host Avignon (3pm kick-off).
The other two games see Halifax travel to face Toulouse, and Sheffield travel to face Carcassonne.
The fixtures were confirmed following the end of the French Elite Championship regular season, which saw Pia finish top of the table, two points clear of both Carcassonne and Avignon.
Although Lezignan finished fourth, ahead of Toulouse in fifth, it had already been agreed that the team who spent the last three seasons playing in the Championship would participate in the tournament.
RFL director of European development Niel Wood said: “This innovative tournament allows us to continue the close connection between the Championships and the French Elite Division, as well as celebrate the success of the clubs involved.
“I am certain that the players, officials and most importantly the fans will love the competition.”
