Buderus baffled by Knights form

Danny Buderus is at a loss to explain Newcastle’s terrible run of form, which has seen them collect five straight defeats.

Speaking after the Knights’ comprehensive 32-16 defeat to Canberra on Saturday, skipper Buderus, who is standing in for the injured Kurt Gidley, had no answers.

“We’re training hard, we’re doing things right, we’ve got a great coach, it’s just not getting put on the field,” Buderus told the club’s official website.

“It’s tough, I just don’t understand what’s going on.”

The Knights will have the benefit of the bye before they come up against the in-form Wests Tigers on June 25.

However, for former Leeds Rhino Buderus, the extended break will be frustrating period.

“It’s going to be a tough time between drinks until we play again, so it’s going to stew on us a bit,” he said.

“That was the hardest thing, it would have just turned things around.

“We could have had one of those history wins that turns our season around and gained a bit of confidence.

“There’s just no belief where we are at the moment, so you can tell them all, and everyone’s trying hard…it just didn’t happen for us tonight.

“That’s where we’re at as a group.”
