Stadium wait for Wakefield
Wakefield will have to wait a little longer for news on their proposed stadium development at Newmarket, after a decision on its progress was delayed.
The Wildcats received a major boost last week when it was revealed that part of the site was no longer to be designated as “Green Belt”, enabling it to be utilised for the commercial purposes required to help fund the facility.
But while the club and fans were hoping to receive news on the outcome of the Public Inquiry on the site, due on Tuesday, this has now been put back.
The stadium is just part of a proposed development, which also includes retail and warehousing facilities, to be built on an old colliery.
A club statement read: “A decision was due on Tuesday (19th June) but the club has been informed that this decision has been delayed with no new date currently set.
“As and when the club has any further information on a new date then supporters will be informed.”
