Workington snap up trio from Ottawa
Workington have signed trio Dec O’Donnell, Calvin Wellington and Jake Moore from Ottawa Aces for 2021.
The three players had signed contracts with Ottawa Aces for next season but the Canadian club have postponed their entry to League 1 until 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ireland hooker O’Donnell and centre Wellington return to Workington after leaving to take up full-time deals with Ottawa, while back-rower Moore also spent time at Derwent Park in 2017 and 2018.
Workington have also announced the signing of England Students international Jake Lightowler.
Workington coach Chris Thorman said: “I’m really happy with the four additions to the squad we have announced tonight.
“They bring experience, skill, commitment and flair to an already strong squad.
“I can’t wait to welcome them back to Derwent Park and have a great 2021.”
