Toby Adamson grateful for chance at North Wales Crusaders

North Wales Crusaders’ Toby Adamson says he is grateful to Clive Griffiths for giving him a chance in Wrexham after deserting the sport.

Adamson, the brother of Luke at Salford, left the City Reds to complete a law degree at Liverpool University.

After time away from the game, the former Salford player says he is indebted to the Crusaders for giving him a chance to resurrect his rugby league career.

He said: “Clive Griffiths and John Fieldhouse were good enough to give me an opportunity to get back into the game at a good level so I’m going to take it with both hands and reward them, starting with this Sunday.”

Adamson has played two games for Crusaders already, and now wants to make it a third against Workington on Sunday.

He said: “We’re all settling in now. We’re improving every week and there’s a lot of competition for places. I think we’ll do well this Sunday; we’re certainly all up for it.

“Workington have got quite a few good players, notably Jamie Thackray at prop. If we can control him and win the battle in the middle of the field then hopefully we can get a bonus point at least and challenge for a win.”

Adamson made one Super League appearance for Salford in 2010, coming off the bench in the Reds’ 52-4 loss to Huddersfield at the Willows.
