Super League Show set to remain during the Olympics

The BBC will broadcast the Super League Show nationally throughout the duration of the London Olympics, giving sports fans across the UK the opportunity to watch the latest Rugby League action.

Rugby League and Formula 1 are the only sports selected by the BBC to be shown in addition to their Olympics coverage, with the Super League Show being aired throughout the UK on BBC2 on Tuesday evenings at 11.30pm for the duration of the games.

RFL Communications Director Niel Wood said: “It’s fantastic that the BBC recognises the appeal Rugby League has and has agreed to enhance its coverage of the sport while the London Olympics takes place.

“It’s great that everyone across the UK will have the opportunity to watch the high quality entertainment from the Stobart Super League involving the world’s finest athletes at a time when sport is at the top of everyone’s agenda.”

Charles Runcie, Head of Sport for BBC English Regions said: “Even with BBC1 dominated by the Olympic Games over the next couple of weeks we were keen to keep Rugby League and the Super League Show on BBC screens. 

“The move to BBC2 on a Tuesday for those two weeks, with one single showing, means for first time since the programme started in 1999 it has a proper network slot.”
