New Hunslet deal for Grimshaw
Hunslet have handed a new deal to stand-off Danny Grimshaw for the 2013 season.
Grimshaw, 26, was the Hawks’ Player of the Year in 2011, and was snapped up by Championship winners Featherstone for this season, but the former York man failed to settle at the Bigfellas Stadium.
He then returned to the South Leeds Stadium, where his season was cut short after just one game due to a groin injury.
Grimshaw said: “Barry Eaton was a large part in my decision to stay with the club as I feel I will fit right in with the structures he has in place, I believe I play my best rugby where I feel most happy and settled and I owe the club some loyalty for signing me back when things didn’t work out for me at Featherstone, I am hoping to return to action in around a month’s time and I am delighted to stay at Hunslet for another year.”
The former Sharlston and Stanley Rangers amateur scored 14 tries in 27 appearances for the Hawks last season.
Director of Rugby Darren Williams added: “Danny is a key component in our plans for 2013 and were thrilled he’s decided to extend his contract for a further season, he is now on the road to recovery following surgery and will be back in light training next week with a view to returning to action before the end of the season.
“This is a fantastic boost to the club as Danny had offers from several other Championship clubs and is a real shot in the arm for our 2013 recruitment plans.”
