Joel Monaghan excited for family reunion at Wembley

Warrington Wolves winger Joel Monaghan is looking forward to making Wembley an all family affair.

Joel will play alongside his brother Michael, and become the third set of brothers to play in a Challenge Cup final in four consecutive years.

Vinnie and Louis Anderson played in both of Warrington’s Challenge Cup success’ in 2009 and 2010, before Sam and Joel Tomkins both appeared in Wigan’s cup final win last year.

Now Joel is looking forward to playing in his first club final alongside his brother.

He said: “To play alongside my brother will be a special moment for me, so I’m just looking forward to the weekend.

“I think it’s a very proud moment and my old man is as proud as anyone, he flew out Monday morning with his brother just to see his two boys run out at Wembley.

“My family have come over for Michael’s last two finals, and my Dad loves it. You couldn’t meet a bigger footy head so he couldn’t be happier and hopefully we can do well and send him home a winner.”

Joel played in the 2008 World Cup final for Australia, but had never reached a first grade final prior to joining Warrington last season.
