Newcastle sign Wigan youngster Cian Tyrer
Newcastle have signed young full-back or winger Cian Tyrer from Wigan ahead of the 2021 campaign.
Tyrer came through Wigan’s academy and becomes Thunder’s 17th announced signing for 2021.
Tyrer said: “I’m really looking forward to joining Thunder. I was very impressed with the club, with the structure, the ambition and also with the goals that they talked to me about and hope to achieve.
“I believe that the club will achieve those goals and I wanted to be apart of them doing so and helping along the way.
“My personal goals for next season will be help the team by performing consistently and establish a regular first team spot in the squad, I want to be up there with a lot of tries also.”

Thunder director of rugby Denis Betts said: “Cian is a Matty Russell type of player, great on his feet and an impact ball carrier.
“He has great pace and is the sort of player who will score if he makes a break and gets in behind opposition defences.
“He needs to play seniors rugby to keep developing and pleased to offer him that opportunity at Thunder.”
