Morrison to get stuck in at Dewsbury

Glenn Morrison has taken on a sponsorship position at Dewsbury, alongside his new part-time role as head coach of the Championship outfit.

Former Bradford and Wakefield back-rower Morrison, 36, beat off competition from stand-in boss Paul Broadbent to land the top job at the Rams’ Stadium, and he will also help the club find sponsorship ahead of the new season.

Chairman Mark Sawyer told the club’s official website: “Many applied for the job, but others didn’t because it was a part-time position. It was very difficult in drawing the shortlist up, but we narrowed it down to five people, and from those five people it was Glenn who emerged as the number one choice.

“I think he’ll be a cracking acquisition for the club.

“Glenn has also agreed to take on a sponsorship position at the club, for which he will be paid on a commision-only basis.

“He feels that it is important that we bring as many sponsors in as possible so that he himself can have sign as competitive a side signed up as possible.

“Glenn is very keen to cut his teeth at head coach level and he is quite excited at taking over the position, I can assure you of that.”

Morrison has signed a two-year deal with the Championship club, who finished outside of the play-offs this season.
