Wigan top average attendance table

Six Super League teams averaged crowds of more than 10,000 during the 2012 regular season.

Wigan topped the list with an average of 16,043, with Leeds in second place with 14948.

In their first season at Langtree Park, St Helens almost doubled their average from last year, averaging 14088. They averaged just 7863 in 2011 playing up the road at Widnes.

The Vikings averaged just under 6000 (5942) in their first season back in Super League, more than 2000 more than they averaged in the Championship in 2011, although it was less than their average attendance in their last year in Super League, back in 2005 (6794).

Behind Saints and Widnes, the biggest improvement came at Wakefield, who added 25% to their average, moving from 6552 in 2011 to 8172 in 2012.

There were also improvements from last year for Catalan, Huddersfield and Warrington, while Salford also enjoyed a 9% rise in their first season at Salford City Stadium.

Bradford suffered the biggest drop from 2011, as their average attendance fell from 13967 to 11761, and London Broncos attendances dropped 10% from 3131 to 2808.

There were also drops for Castleford and the two Hull clubs, while both Leeds and Wigan were just 1% lower than 2011.

Super League attendances totalled 1,743,040 in 2012 (not including Magic Weekend), with only four clubs pulling in less than 100,000 in total (Castleford, London, Salford and Widnes), and Wigan totalling more than 200,000.
