Catalan have signed Frenchman Benjamin Garcia, currently playing for the Brisbane Broncos Holden Cup side (U20s).

Garcia, 20, paid his own way to Australia to play for Wynnum Manly Seagulls, where he was named player of the year last season.

The former Avignon forward said, “I’m very happy to sign for Catalan Dragons. It was a good opportunity for me to play in Super League after a great experience in Australia. I’m looking forward to joining the club.”

Dragons head coach Laurent Frayssinous is just as happy and he had this to say, “He is one of the best French players of his generation and I’m delighted to add him to our squad. He is a tough player, he runs hard and he is a good tackler. He has all the basis to become a good rugby league player.”

“We want to attract and give the opportunity to all the French players to play into the Super League and to continue the club development in the years to come.”

Garcia will arrive in France before the end of the month and is now linked with Catalan until the end of 2015 season.
