Hull KR have agreed a two-year deal with Newcastle Knights utility forward Neville Costigan.

Costigan, 28, began his NRL career with Brisbane Broncos in 2003, and has already spent time with current Rovers coach Craig Sandercock during his time at the Knights.

Sandercock is relishing the prospect of having him on board at MS3 Craven Park.

He said, “Nev is a quality player and one who has won a Grand Final, represented his country and played State of Origin.

“He’ll bring a lot to our team and that’s why I was keen to get him over to our club. Nev was a pleasure to coach when I was with Newcastle and I’m looking forward to working with him again.”

Costigan, who was part of the Papua New Guinea 2008 World Cup team, will join the Robins in the autumn subject to the necessary visa and work permit paperwork being completed.
