Sunday’s Championships round-up
Fourth-bottom Barrow produced a superb home display to beat Halifax 26-12. Dean McGilvray, Ben Helliwell (2), Liam Harrison and Liam Campbell scored for the Raiders, while Ross Divorty and Scott Murrell crossed for the Yorkshire side.
Meanwhile, top of the table Sheffield preserved their three point lead with a 42-16 win at York. Mitchell Stringer, Michael Knowles, Quentin Laulu-Togagae (3), Menzie Yere and Tom Armstrong were the Eagles try-scorers, Jack Lee, George Elliot and Ben Johnston provided the consolation tries for the home side.
The team chasing down Sheffield in second – Featherstone – enjoyed their own big win, with a 62-6 drubbing of Workington. Rovers’ 11 tries, nine of which were converted successfully by Liam Finn, were scored by Will Sharp (2), James Lockwood (2), Vince Mellars, Ben Kaye, Jon Hepworth (2), Andrew Ellis, Greg Worthington and Tommy Saxton. Former Great Britain international Jamie Thackray scored Town’s solitary try.

Runaway leaders Oldham enjoyed another impressive victory, with a 44-24 success away at fifth-placed London. The Roughyeds were indebted to a hat-trick by Richard Lepori and further tries from Lewis Palfrey, Dale Bloomfield and Adam Files. The Skolars four tries came through John Paxton, Andy McLean, Erjon Dollapi and James Anthony.
North Wales, who can overtake Oldham if they win their games in hand, also enjoyed victory. Tries from Tom Johnson, Jamie Durbin, Leon Brenon and Dave McConnoll were just enough for a 24-20 win over a Gateshead side, who scored through Omari Caro, Paul Stamp and Ricky Hough.
