Roosters capture Hastings

Sydney Roosters have completed the signing of highly sought-after Australian schoolboy, Jackson Hastings.

Hastings, 17, had a number of NRL clubs pursuing him, but it is the Roosters who will have his services from 2014.

Hastings will continue a proud tradition of playing at the same club as his father, who in this case is Roosters Hall of Fame inductee, Kevin ‘Horrie’ Hastings.

The club’s recruitment manager, Peter O’Sullivan, believes that Hastings has a big future in the NRL.

O’Sullivan said, “This is a real coup for the Roosters. Jackson is a wonderfully talented young man who can play in the halves, at hooker or fullback.

“As we know, he hails from a proud rugby league legacy, but in saying that, Jackson is his own young man and we look forward to watching him develop on and off the footy field in the coming years.”

The player himself had this to say:

“The Roosters were the team I grew up supporting so I’m stoked to be joining the club. I’ve still got a lot to learn and I’m excited to be joining guys like Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney who I can learn so much from.”
