Crusaders win Championship One title
North Wales were promoted as champions of the Kingstone Press Championship One, after they came out on top 35-22 in a hard-fought Welsh derby with South Wales.
The Crusaders, who only required a point to secure their status as the number one team in the division, took an early lead through Leon Brennan.
The Scorpions soon hit back though, firstly with Joe Burke and then Dalton Grant.
In an end-to-end game North Wales took control again before half-time, with Rob Massam and Stephen Bannister crossing over the South Wales try-line.
The home side pulled away further in the second-half, as Massam got his second and then ten minutes later Andy Moulsdale also claimed a try.
Billy Sheen‘s effort, and then Grant’s second kept the Scorpions hopes alive, but they were then killed-off by scores from Crusaders’ pair Owain Griffiths and Dave McConnell.
Moulsdale also added a late drop goal as North Wales celebrations were already beginning, after what has been a superb season for the club.
