Liam Sutcliffe hungry to win more silverware with Leeds
Fresh from signing his new long-term contract with Leeds, Liam Sutcliffe is targeting more trophies with the Rhinos.
The 26-year-old centre submitted a transfer request last summer but has completed a U-turn by signing a new deal with Leeds until at least the end of 2024.
Sutcliffe has won two Challenge Cups and a Super League title with the Rhinos – and is hungry for more.
He said: “Leeds have got a massive future again and I’m sure we’ll be up there challenging for silverware like we should be doing so I am really excited to be a part of it.
“I’m no different to anyone else, I want to win everything possible.
“I’ve seen what the likes of Kev (Sinfield), Danny (McGuire) and Rob (Burrow) all did in the time they were here and the amount of trophies they won and I want to win the amount of trophies they won.
“Obviously it would be more difficult with how many they actually won but every year I want to every trophy available.”
Sutcliffe has made 183 appearances for his hometown club so far, mainly being used as a utility player.
But the England Knights international nailed down a spot in the centres last season – and he is keen for that to continue.
Sutcliffe said: “I know I’ve kind of been used as a utility since I made my debut and the last few years I’ve really wanted to cement down a position but its not quite worked out.
“Thats probably a reason why I’ve not actually enjoyed my rugby for the last few years and I think last year was the first time I’ve really enjoyed it.
“I got kind of settled in the centre position and formed a few really good partnerships as well. I do really enjoy it and thats all I’ve ever wanted.
“It is great playing with Ash (Handley). We are great mates off the field as well and to be able to play alongside him week in week out now and seeing him kill it week in week out is good.”
