McCormack finalises Scotland World Cup squad
Scotland coach Steve McCormack has finalised his squad for the World Cup, which includes four uncapped players from the NRL.
Brisbane half-back Peter Wallace, Gold Coast prop Luke Douglas and North Queensland centre Kane Linnett are joined by former Wigan full-back Matt Russell, now with Gold Coast Titans.
There are two uncapped players from Super League in the shape of Bradford utility Danny Addy and Widnes forward Ben Kavanagh.
Huddersfield skipper Danny Brough will captain the squad, which includes 10 players from Super League.
There are three members of Sheffield Eagles’ victorious Championship-winning team – Andrew Henderson, Mitchell Stringer and Alex Szostak – plus Gareth Moore from the Batley Bulldogs side beaten in the Grand Final yesterday.
Huddersfield centre Joe Wardle requires a shoulder operation, joining Keith Galloway (broken foot), James McManus (lower leg fracture) and Alex Walmsley (cracked rib) on the list of those unavailable through injury.
Scotland kick-off against Tonga at Workington’s Derwent Park on Tuesday 29 October. They go into training camp on Sunday 13 October.
