Chase excited to play at new club home
England international and new Salford Red Devils player Rangi Chase has expressed his excitement ahead of playing in his new club home when England face Italy at Salford City Stadium in a Rugby League World Cup 2013 warm-up match on Sunday October 19 (4.30pm).
Chase is currently away with Steve McNamara’s England squad in Potchefstroom, South Africa, as part of their preparations for the World Cup, which starts on Saturday October 26.
When he returns from the high-altitude training camp, the international versus Italy will be Chase’s first taste of playing at Salford’s home as a Red Devils players.
“I’m looking forward to playing for England at the Salford City Stadium against Italy,” said Chase from Potchefstroom, South Africa.
“It will be the first time that I have played at the ground since signing for the Salford Red Devils.
“It will be perfect preparation for us as we continue the build-up to the Rugby League World Cup 2013. Italy have a strong squad sprinkled with talent from the NRL. They will test us in every department.”
In partnership with Salford-based social landlord City West Housing Trust, children aged 16 and under, accompanied by an adult, can attend the game, which will be the first chance to see England’s World Cup squad in action, free of charge.
“It is great news that juniors can attend the match for free,” said Chase of the deal. “It is a good way to get more kids interested in the game, especially as the World Cup approaches. The more support we can get, it is going to help us as fill the team with pride.”
In partnership with Salford-based social landlord City West Housing Trust, children aged 16 and under accompanied by an adult can attend England v Italy (4.30pm) and England Knights v Samoa (2.00pm) for free on Saturday 19 October at Salford City Stadium.
