Long makes Salford return

St Helens legend Sean Long has returned to Salford, 11 months after resigning from the role of assistant coach at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Long, 37, recently revealed that he has been battling with depression, and even attempted suicide at the start of the year.

He is now ‘out of the other side’ of his depression and is thrilled to be back involved in the game he loves.

Long took to Twitter to thank Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash for the opportunity:

“(@drmarwanK) I would like to thank you for the opportunity to be part of your coaching staff and the Devilution. Can’t wait to get started.”

Former teammate Leon Pryce also took to social media when he heard the news:

“Great to see @TherealSeanLong back in coaching. Top man – top coach.”

After leaving Salford last April, the former Great Britain scrum-half has had stints with Wigan, London and most notably Featherstone as football manager.

The Red Devils have also recently announced the signing of young Wigan winger Dom Manfredi on a month’s loan.
