Dewsbury cleared in dual-registration investigation
Dewsbury Rams have confirmed they have no case to answer following an investigation by the RFL in to dual-registration.
The Rams, along with Doncaster and Batley, were being looked at by the governing body over the eligibility of players fielded from Super League partner clubs.
Under the current rules, clubs cannot play any player on dual-registration until the end of the season, unless they have played in three or more Championship games before the registration deadline of July 25.
In Dewsbury’s case, it surrounded Bradford player Sam Wood.
Club chairman Mark Sawyer said in a statement: “Having co-operated fully with the RFL during their inquiry into the dual-registration of Sam Wood, I would like to inform supporters and sponsors of Dewsbury Rams that the club has been found to have no case to answer.
“The inquiry found that we had acted entirely within the rules relating to dual-registration.
“Sam will remain at the Rams on loan terms until the end of the season to help alleviate the club’s current injury problems.”
Doncaster are being investigated over their fielding of Hull’s Ben Crooks, who was Super League Young Player of the Year last season, while Jacob Fairbank is the Batley player involved.
